How To Get To Donoussa

The best option is to travel by ferry from Naxos. Donoussa sits just off the island and during the summer there are multiple ferries heading to Donoussa every day.

Blue Star Ferries run the quick service from Naxos which takes 1hr and 40 minutes and will cost around €9

If you a travelling from Athens, the trip will take just under 7 hours and will cost €27

Best Beaches In Donoussa

Donoussa is known for its pristine beaches that are perfect for swimming and sunbathing.

One of the best beaches on the island is Kedros Beach, which is located on the north side of the island. This secluded beach has crystal clear waters and is surrounded by beautiful greenery.

Another must-visit beach on the island is Livadi Beach, which has a long stretch of sandy coastline and is ideal for families with children.

Stavros Beach, will be the first beach you see when you jump off the ferry. Its an easy beach to get to as its central, and has crystal clear water!

The beaches are not organised. Its the sea, sand and whatever else you bring with you!

How To Get Around Donoussa

You are able to take a car to the island but be warned I didnt find a gas station on the island! There is also a taxi service which you are able to book to get you around the island, or a bus service.

The bus service is great and will get you to most places on the island

Best Restaurants and Bars on Donoussa

Tzi Tzi: Located in Mersini Tzi Tzi sits on the coast looking out to the island of Amorgos. Tzi Tzi serves traditional greek food

Iliovasilema Restaurant: Located in town not far from the port. It is a seafront restaurant with great views of sea serving some delicious seafood, dips and salads

I Kori Tou Michali: Location in Mersini serving a Greek and Asia minor fusion. A must try are the figs cooked in raki, veal and eggplant in the oven and their pork tomahawk.

Things to do In Donoussa

Donoussa is a hiker's paradise, with plenty of trails that offer stunning views of the island's rugged terrain. One of the best hikes on the island is the trail from Stavros to Mersini.

This trail takes you through a scenic route with breathtaking views of the Aegean Sea and the neighbouring islands. The trail is suitable for all levels of hikers and takes about 2 hours to complete.
